Is it best to allow the system to update before setting up my HDA or should I setup first?
We DO NOT recommend you apply all updates before the Amahi install. The reason is that we test more heavily against the FULL DVD of the distro.
We should note that due to stability considerations, we turn off all non-Amahi automatic updates that the system has. We don't want unsuspecting users to be unpleasantly surprised by updates that happen behind the scenes. You can (and should periodically) update. The Amahi updates are, on the other hand, automatic. We thoroughly test our updates and we make sure they are compatible with upstream packages from the base distribution.Back to the FAQ
